URBAN FOX PENTHOUSE – EXPERIENCE JOZI IN A LUXURIOUS SETTING

In 2021 I visited Johannesburg for the first time since I relocated to Cape Town almost five years ago and I was fortunate to be hosted by CURIOCITY in two of their three penthouses in Maboneng, Johannesburg. This year I went back however, this time around I was going to check out their newly listed two-bedroom penthouse, Urban Fox Penthouse, on the ever-trendy Fox Street in Maboneng, just a few metres from the penthouses I slept in last year.

CURIOCITY is a network of trendy African design hostels, hybrid hotel rooms, penthouses, events venues, and exhibition spaces sharing an authentic experience of the African continent, one city at a time. They are well known for connecting the curious traveller to what is exciting, inspiring, and real in whichever location they are based in. They also offer travellers the chance to stay in spaces that are not only affordable but also safe, comfortable, and amazingly designed to reflect the local culture. Since being established in 2013, CURIOCITY has now developed into eight successful properties operating in three major South African cities, Cape Town, Johannesburg, and The Cradle of Humankind.

THE PENTHOUSE

Located on Fox Street in Maboneng, Johannesburg, this two-bedroom ensuite penthouse also features the industrial-chick and modern décor like the other three CURIOCITY penthouses on the same street offering safe, sophisticated, and comfortable inner-city living.

Urban Fox Penthouse features a spacious lounge, a dining room with a large wooden eight-seater dining table, a balcony, and a large fully-furnished open-plan kitchen with factory-style windows that allow plenty of natural light throughout the day. Kitchen amenities include a large double-door refrigerator and freezer, microwave, dishwasher, stainless steel electric stove and oven, and Nespresso machine making this penthouse an ideal place for entertaining and hosting intimate events.

BEDROOMS

Urban Fox Penthouse consists of a master bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed complete with a luxurious ensuite free-standing bathtub, his and hers vanity sinks, and a shower.

An air conditioning unit has also been installed in the room for those cold or hot summer days. The second bedroom near the kitchen consists of a double bed complete with an ensuite bathroom with a shower only.

LOUNGE AND DINING ROOMS

The open plan lounge has a large and comfortable L-shape couch perfect for unwinding after a long day of fun or for just watching your favourite movies or TV programmes on an Apple TV projected on the wall by a roof-mounted Epson projector. The dining room features a wooden eight-seater dining table large enough for hosting guests and there is a glass door leading to a balcony – but don’t expect the view of the city from up here.

CURIOCITY is for the young and not-so-young, the global traveller, and the local visitor, for a quick stop-over and a deep dive into the city. So, when you’re planning your next trip to their part of the world, book your spot at one of their locations.
