Welcome to Earth Wind and Ocean in Ballots Bay – An ultimate Garden Route hideaway located inside Ballots Nature Reserve. I have been to the Garden Route a few times however, to be honest, I didn’t know a place called Ballots Bay or Victoria Bay existed until I recently visited the area. I call this destination gem an ultimate Garden Route hideaway for a reason. Even though it’s located just a mere 5km from the bustling town of George and 9km from Wilderness, its location inside the highly secured Ballots Nature Reserve makes it difficult to find unless you are one of the residents or have booked a stay in one of Earth Wind and Ocean luxurious holiday houses.

Their luxurious homes are built up the cliffs inside the reserve and can only be accessed through a paved thrilling steep and narrow road where you will be welcomed by the absolute tranquillity of almost untouched nature surrounded by indigenous fauna and flora with breathtaking ocean views. Inside Ballots Nature Reserve, nature and wildlife are treasured and respected by the residents and that makes the area a haven for nature lovers with a little flair for luxury accommodation.

With popular towns like Mossel Bay, George, and wilderness and with the George Airport located just 20 minutes away, escaping from the hustle and bustle of everyday life for some well-deserved glorious relaxation has never been this easier or more convenient. Ballots Bay is a rare find with its 360° views of nature’s beauty and I believe it’s only a matter of time before the houses get fully booked for up to 24 months in advance. If there is anything I can think of that can compete with this natural beauty, it will have to be the owner’s bubbly personality and great hospitality.

HOUSE 33 – OUR HOME

HOUSE 33 is a three-bedroom house and one of Earth Wind and Ocean’s luxurious homes inside the Garden Route Private Nature Reserve. This luxurious yet simply decorated home takes your mind away from the trappings of the daily rat race and brings your soul closer to the calm whispers of nature where you can disconnect from life’s challenges and plug in for a perfect soul recharge the moment you step outside your vehicle.

The modern African-inspired home is decorated and furnished by the owners using locally manufactured furniture and artwork throughout the house. The décor is warm and inviting with a colourful South African twist. Click here for more pictures.

The open plan living space leads straight into nature and spectacular ocean views through large foldable sliding doors which allow plenty of natural light throughout the day. With a 180° ocean view, a large deck with sun beds, a two-seater couch, an outdoor dining table with chairs, and a swimming pool, the three-bedroom (all en-suites) home can comfortably accommodate six people making it an ideal home for a family getaway or haven where friends can catch up. To save water, all Earth Wind and Ocean homes are only fitted with rain showers.

Earth Wind and Ocean houses are perfect holiday homes for families, friends, couples, and anyone looking for a quiet and secluded coastal getaway surrounded by nature. The owner Franck, was generous enough to give us a private guided tour around the reserve, something he said he never does with guests. This gave us an opportunity to see his other rental house near the gorge, spot some game such as buffalos, zebras, and ostriches, and explore the reserve’s private beach with braai (BBQ) facilities. Understandably, Franck is passionate about the reserve, taking care of nature and wildlife, and making sure his homes become a haven for people to enjoy all year round.

Be careful with fires

No smoking in the house

Respect nature and do not pick the plants
All fires must be extinguished prior to going bed
Security deposit required upon payment of balance
Check-in time: from 2PM and check-out time: 10AM
Don’t feed the wildlife. A fed animal is a dead animal
