BOSHUIS – A LUXURY FARM STAY AT SANJIKA ESCAPES

A few weeks ago, I asked people if they would consider travelling during the winter months, and to be honest, the results were almost 50/50. It’s understandable because, for generations, many people including myself have chosen to travel during the summer months, but the reality is that winter months could also be great if you really want your budget to go a long way or if you have been eyeing that gorgeous Villa, cabin, farmhouse, or a hotel that seemed to be out of your budget or fully booked during the summer months.

In the last two years, there has been a popular trend of beautiful cabins and off-the-grid accommodations due to people preferring secluded places where they can enjoy some quiet time with their loved ones away from the busy city life or reconnect with nature.

Boshuis at Sanjika Escapes on the foot of Outeniqua mountains in George is one of those hidden gems that you should consider when you are around the Garden Route and looking for an escape.

Accommodations, travel agencies, tour activity operators, and attractions need the business in these cooler months, so it’s the best time of year to hunt for great travel bargains. I usually start hunting for deals between May and August when establishments publish their biggest discounts in the hope to haul in customers in the coming chilly months. Try it too and you will be surprised how much money you can save.

WELCOME TO BOSHUIS – A LUXURY FARM STAY AT SANJIKA ESCAPES

Boshuis is a spacious two-bedroom and two-bathroom farmhouse that can accommodate four guests and is fully equipped with everything that you’ll need to enjoy your off-the-grid farm stay. It is nestled in an indigenous forest at the foot of the Outeniqua mountains in George where rest and relaxation are guaranteed.

Even though it is located just a 15-minute drive from George Airport, at Boshuis, you will feel as though you are miles away from civilisation because you are always surrounded by the lush indigenous forest, wildlife, fresh mountain air, and the sound of the nearby stream. If you enjoy hiking, there is a path that winds along the Modder River, through the forest, and ends up at a waterfall and a freshwater pool.

KITCHEN AND INDOOR LIVING SPACE

Walking around the property you will realise that both inside and outside areas have been designed as a space dedicated to relaxation and rejuvenation to allow guests to experience the restorative powers of nature.

OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE

The outdoor living space consists of a fire pit and a pizza oven under some forest trees. You might spot some small monkeys too. Sitting next to the fire pit, you will find yourself admiring the surroundings, the simple but luxurious architecture of the Boshuis, and reconnecting with nature.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO NOTE:

There is limited Wi-Fi and cellphone signal. You will need to walk or drive 100m towards the office for a better signal. But this should not be a problem if your plan is to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with nature.

The usage of a higher clearance vehicle when travelling to the Boshuis is recommended. You are going to drive through two low-water bridges and on a farm road, which is often muddy in the morning and always bumpy.
