I named my travel blog Western Cape Experiences because all I ever wanted was to explore the entire Western Cape province and to share my experiences with the hope of encouraging fellow travellers, especially locals to explore our beautiful country.

As a curious human being, I always try to research and look for unique places, places that offer unique experiences, and places that are located in an area that would allow me to spend more time enjoying outdoor activities. Rooftop Airstream Trailer Park on top of The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel, definitely ticks all the boxes. Last week we had an opportunity to enjoy a fresh and unique city glamping experience in the heart of Cape Town city centre on the popular and vibrant Long Street. A really great spot for those who like a touch of both glamping spirit and urban living during their vacation.

The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel is an iconic city centre 4-star hotel and Cape Town’s most original, conveniently located on the popular Long Street, and Proudly South African accommodation. The Hotel is a local landmark, has been operating for over 120 years, and is located inside a heritage building.

ROOFTOP AIRSTREAM TRAILER PARK

The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel is home to the only designer Rooftop Airstream Trailer Park in the world! Each of the seven two-sleeper authentic Airstream trailers have their own individual décor theme and collectively reflect a typical Western Cape road trip with themes like Cape Winelands, Beach House, City Flights, Rooftop Safari, Karoo Dorps, Gold Rush, and Bloomin’ Daisies. The Airstream trailers have been operating for over 10 years and they were fully refurbished in 2021 to give them their current fresh and modern interior look.

As part of the 2021 Decorex Cape Town Design Trail, Decorex Africa and 100% Design South Africa partnered with The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel on an exciting refurbishment and interior design project, where top South African Interior Designers set out to revamp the legendary Airstream trailers.

The seven individually-themed Rooftop Airstream Trailers are named Karoo Dorps, Rooftop Safari, Gold Rush, City Flights, Beach House, Bloomin’ Daisies, and Cape Winelands “The Penthouse”.

CAPE WINELANDS “THE PENTHOUSE”

Decorated by the talented Osmond Lange Architects team, the Cape Winelands Airstream is the largest trailer and is often referred to as “The Penthouse”.

The Cape Winelands Airstream trailer has a comfortable queen-size bed, mini bar fridge (stocked at additional costs), tea and coffee station, cable TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, couch, remote-controlled air-conditioning, and a full en-suite bathroom with a shower.

3. RESTAURANT – TRAILER 38

Trailer 38, located on the ground level of The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel, offers mouth-watering all-day breakfast, gourmet sandwiches, classic burgers, steaks, wraps, and snacks.
